Super Trax Story

Going strong for 40 years, we are a san Diego band gone through many styles of music, been playing in many club scenes, casinos, corporate scenes Super Trax could be compose of 3 musicians or 9, we flex to accommodate the venue, we play a variety of music like Classic rock, R& B, Latin jazz, Latin sounds, Spanish Rock, oldies and other styles

The group started, back in a town called La Gloria south of Tijuana Mexico 1970, influenced by the Beatles, we started a four pc band, Guillermo (wily) Rodriguez on the bass, Raul Gonzalez on the drums, Julian Robles on vocals and lead guitar and later switch to keyboards, and Robert Gonzalez second guitar and first voice.
The band’s first name was “Strange Flowers” playing long nights, as still just kids in our teens, making $5.00 bucks a night, doing outside community parties, later we decided to call the band “The Shadows”, where we then replaced our bass player for Arthur Gonzalez, from then on, three family member would be together for the following 27 years, (Julian, Arthur and Robert) later in 1972 we moved back to San Diego, now adding a new member Luis (Littleman) Ledezma he was called Rico, played the percussion, now a five pc band, into playing Latin jazz and percussion rock.

In 1980 the band was joined by two trumpet players and again the name of the band changed to “Siglo lll” (3ed century), playing many Latin covers, and everything else that what come up, with changes like rock, salsa, funk, disco, new wave, jazz, reggae, country and western, waltzes, instrumentals, blues and anything that seem a challenge. Imagine a band with all this mixture, it is an interesting blend, lots of add lib’s.

In the 80’s we had a slow year, we began losing musicians, some joining other bands, some quit for personal reasons, always the three founding members were left behind, disappointed having to start over, now the band had time to start finishing all the recordings of originals, covers and promos.

Now the band was ready to start again, now with a new name “Super Trax” of course (we raffled three names and out of the hat came out Arthur’s choice, Super Trax). We started playing oldies or baby boomer music, as the demand for different styles were ask of us, we continued pleasing, playing country and western, new wave, old school, Motown sounds, Line dance songs, Blues, Cumbias, Jazz, top 40’s and more.

Now from this point on, we would continued to go thru changes we would add musicians, loose musicians, now the three musketeers, that had been together for approximately 30 years, would lose Julian (keyboard, guitar and vocal) finally, the last men standing and as Ramón would say, (we are getting to old to be fussing and being unhappy), we will just enjoy what we do, and keep playing music with our hearts, forever young, and with anyone

The last men standing are:   Arthur (Art) Gonzalez, Bass Guitar and Vocals / Ritchy Legaspy, Drums and Vocals/ Roberto Alfredo ( El Genio) Lopez, Saxophone and vocals / Also the Shell Town Horns, in special occasions, and founder, Robert Gonzalez (Rob G) Guitar, vocals, MC, Entertainer.

This story is much longer (40 Years) , we would have to write a book, well in short the band is very versatile, if you ever need a special band, a band with heart and soul and have love for music
